Case Study - Sports directory
WheresThePitch.ie
A mobile-first finder for GAA clubs and pitches across all 32 counties, with directions and practical matchday information.
The brief
What We Were Asked to Do
Build a mobile-first directory to help people find GAA clubs and pitches across all 32 counties - grounds, directions and what to expect on arrival - from a standing start.
Research & discovery
What We Looked Into First
- A structured, county-by-county and province-by-province data model built to cover every club consistently, rather than a flat list.
- A 'find clubs near me' geolocation feature built as a first-class part of the experience, not an afterthought.
What we recommended
Design & Visual Identity
A confident green-and-navy identity that reads clearly as sport-and-navigation focused, built mobile-first since most users are searching for a pitch while already on the move.

Clean system sans-serif, built for fast scanning on small screens.
Logo & identity
A distinct mark built for a standalone directory product, not tied to any one club or county.

Performance & Accessibility
Real Google Lighthouse audit (mobile), run 10 October 2026.
Accessibility: 21 of 24 automated checks passed
Automated testing can't catch everything, and it did flag a few real items here - shown openly rather than only reporting the headline score:
- One colour-contrast pairing flagged for review.
- A small number of links without a discernible accessible name, logged for a fix.
- Missing a semantic main landmark on this template, logged for a fix.
