The brief

What We Were Asked to Do

Spotted and built on initiative, not commissioned: a training project set for a fan of the club after it became clear Limavady United had no website at all, despite climbing steadily up the NIFL divisions towards Premiership football. The brief we set was simple - research the club properly, secure a domain, and build a site worthy of where they were heading.

Research & discovery

What We Looked Into First

  • This is the second site built for the club. The first was built some years earlier by an earlier trainee - also a genuine fan - back when Limavady United were still in the third tier with minimal resources and a small following. That version was researched, written and built from scratch, then offered to the club directly; it wasn't taken up, and the domain was later allowed to lapse.
  • That original domain has since been bought up by an unrelated gambling site - a genuine, slightly sobering lesson in domain management that shaped how the rebuild was handled.
  • The rebuild started in February 2026, once the club's on-field form made the opportunity obvious again: a new domain secured, the club's real crest, colours and current season's data researched fresh, and a new site built rather than attempting to revive the old one.
  • Fixtures, results and the league table update through an in-house, AI-assisted content pipeline rather than manual page edits - built so the site stays current through a promotion push without someone having to update it by hand every matchday.
  • Offered to the club again on completion. As with the first build, there's been no response yet - the site remains live, accurate and maintained independently in the meantime.

What we recommended

Design & Visual Identity

Built entirely around the club's own identity - royal blue and navy from the crest, with a bright yellow accent for scores and key actions, giving matchday information real visual priority.

Automated testing can't catch everything, and it did flag a few real items here - shown openly rather than only reporting the headline score:

  • One colour-contrast pairing flagged for review on a secondary element.
